The concept for the tower is simple but extraordinarily effective: ‘maximizing’, making optimal use of the site’s potential, the local building code and the fantastic views of  and the Mediterranean. Within this conceptual framework, the team of architects sought to develop an extensive program that reflected the potential of the building. Primarily, the floor plans are 100-percent flexible, reaching the maximum allowable height of the building and optimizing the view from each apartment.

Fixed core of lifts and staircases at the heart of the building pose few constraints for the layout of the apartments on each floor. The floors run straight from the core to the exterior walls, which are composed of two transparent façades and two supporting walls on each floor, rotated 90 degrees per level. The walls, which are perforated, largely determine the appearance of both the exterior and the interior. The core also serves to stabilize the tower, which is in a seismologically active area.

The main concept of the project is to use architectural forms and spatial differentiation to represent the technological and political  situation during those years.

What is the Golden Ratio?

The Golden Ratio is a mathematical ratio that's commonly found in nature. It can be used to create visually-pleasing, organic-looking compositions in your design projects or artwork. Whether you're a graphic designer, illustrator or digital artist, the Golden Ratio, also known as the Golden Mean, The Golden Section, or the Greek letter phi, can be used to bring harmony and structure to your projects. This guide will explain what it is, and how you can use it. We'll also point you towards to some great resources for further inspiration and study. While you're brushing up on your skills, you might also want to check out our guides to other essential art techniques, including grid theory and colour theory.  What is the Golden Ratio? Closely related to the Fibonacci Sequence (which you may remember from either your school maths lessons or Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code), the Golden Ratio describes the perfectly symmetrical relationship between two pr...
