With such historical background, and being inserted in what had been a center of Mayan culture and activity for centuries, our project reflects the importance of this epicentre by drawing from the imagery of a traditional pyramid. It also reflects the current context where architecture tries to achieve an ecological agenda and an ironic return to the Mayan strategy of achieving a symbiosis with nature.

The Pyramid project is located in Mérida, the largest city of the Yucatán Peninsula, and the twelfth in the country according to its population. It was built on the site of the Maya city of T’ho, or the city of the five hills, which referred to five pyramids, and has been considered as one of the oldest continually occupied cities in the Americas.

Algorithmic Architecture: Inhabitable Bridge in Tokyo

The objective in designing the ‘Living Bridge’ was to describe a new type of nonlinear algorithmic architecture through the design of an inhabitable bridge in Tokyo. The chosen site integrates with the residential neighborhoods of Ginza and Tsukishima.

The Space Race Museum

The ‘Space Race Museum’ is a proposal designed by Islam Fikry Abbas from the Port Said University in Egypt for an a new museum dedicated to early stages of outer space exploration during the Cold War. It is the story of a race between the United States and the Soviet Union to conquest the last frontier. The main concept of the project is to use architectural forms and spatial differentiation to represent the technological and political situation during those years.
